JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars will have a new backup quarterback Sunday.

With C.J. Beathard on reserve/COVID-19, Interim Head Coach Darrell Bevell on Friday said Danny Etling will be the Jaguars' backup quarterback for Sunday's 2021 regular-season finale against the Indianapolis Colts at TIAA Bank Field.

"We'll bring Danny Etling up to the active roster," Bevell said.

Etling, who has spent time with seven NFL teams in four seasons, signed to the Jaguars' practice squad on December 20. He also has been with the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers.

Beathard, a fifth-year veteran, has backed up starter Trevor Lawrence the entire season. He has played in two games, completing two of two passes for 33 yards.

Bevell also said left tackle Cam Robinson could be activated from reserve/COVID-19 before Sunday. Rookie Walker Little started a loss to the New England Patriots last Sunday in Robinson's place.

With punter J.K. Scott also on reserve/COVID-19 for Sunday, Bevell said the Jaguars will activate second-year veteran Joseph Charlton. Punter Logan Cooke was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury before the loss to the Patriots.

"That's why we had extra punters on the practice squad," Bevell said. "We'll just move on the next."

NOTABLE I

Bevell said rookie running back Travis Etienne Jr., who sustained a season-ending Lisfranc injury during the preseason, is walking and no longer in a "non-weight-bearing" status; Bevell said he has been with the team this season despite the injury. Bevell also said wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. is progressing similarly after sustaining a season-ending ankle injury in a Week 4 loss at Cincinnati. "He's progressing the same way," Bevell said. "He's not full running or anything yet."

NOTABLE II

Tight end James O'Shaughnessy on Friday was ruled out of Sunday's game after missing practice this week with a hip injury. All other Jaguars players on the injury report this week are expected to be available Sunday. Those players: wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. (rest Wednesday), running back Ryquell Armstead (knee), linebacker Dakota Allen (shoulder), linebacker Damien Wilson (rest Wednesday), linebacker Myles Jack (knee) and defensive lineman Malcom Brown (rest Thursday).
