JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed sixth-year LB Preston Brown off waivers from Oakland, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars placed rookie LB Quincy Williams (hand) on the reserve/injured list.
Brown, 6-1, 251, joins the Jaguars after previously spending time with the Raiders, Bengals and Bills. He was originally selected in the third round (71st overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft by Buffalo and spent his first four seasons with the Bills, playing the 2014 season under Head Coach Doug Marrone. Brown has appeared in 81 games with 77 starts and has totaled 599 tackles (342 solo), 14 passes defensed, five fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. During Brown's first four seasons in the NFL (2014-17), he surpassed 100 tackles each season, and his 504 tackles ranked second-most in the NFL over the four-year span. Brown, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, played four years at Louisville (2010-13), appearing in 52 games with 37 starts and compiled 301 tackles, 7.0 sacks and one INT.
Williams, a third-round selection (98th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft, totaled 48 tackles (30 solo) in 11 games during his rookie campaign.
