In honor of Women's History Month the Jacksonville Jaguars asked five questions to women employees who are actively transforming and paving the way for women working in sports and entertainment. Currently, the Jaguars have over 100 women on staff across the Jacksonville Jaguars and Bold Events organizations. Stay tuned for all our features throughout the entire month of March.
What is your advice to younger women interested in working in sports?
- Make the most of every opportunity you get. Nothing can take the place of hard work.
Describe a favorite memory or experience you have had while working with the Jaguars.
- Of the 8 seasons I have worked with the Jaguars, the most exciting memory I have was when the Jaguars made the AFC Championship game in 2017. It was so exciting watching the fans and City of Jacksonville rally behind the team. Strangers became fast friends all supporting the players and organization.
Who is someone that has helped get you to the position or shaped you into the person you are today?
- I have been fortunate to have worked with great bosses along the way that helped guide my career path and have shown me how to be an authentic leader. Grateful to have worked with Kelly Blair who has been a great mentor to me throughout my career and taught me to challenge the status quo. She has been supportive, encourages me to peruse my career goals, and offers a listening ear when needed.
What was your journey in getting to your role?
- I always liked numbers and knew early on that I wanted to work in the Accounting, so I obtained my undergraduate degree in Accounting, earned a professional license (Certified Internal Auditor), and got my MBA. Professionally I started my career in Internal Audit in the hospitality field.
- Through work experience and coaching from great leaders along with the educational credentials it gave me the support and confidence to follow my passion and was grateful for the opportunity to work in Internal Audit at the National Football League. During my time at the NFL, I traveled to teams and reviewed financial information for compliance with League policies. This experience led me to join the Finance team at the Jaguars where I lead a team that supports football operations and front office accounting operations.
In one word, describe being a women in sports.
- Resilient
