What Are Your Expectations for the Jaguars 2024 Season?

0723 Expectations Article

JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars experts – Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – are breaking down the Jaguars as the 2024 NFL season approaches; today: The Jaguars in 2024 will be …

Frank Frangie, Radio Voice of the Jaguars

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will: Be a playoff team for the second time in three seasons. I won't predict the division title just yet — although I might in time — but I see double digit wins and a spot in the tournament.

Jeff Lageman, Jaguars Analyst and Former Jaguars Defensive End

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will: Have their hands full getting back to where they want to be. The 2023 season was a season that collapsed and building it back up is no easy task. The Houston Texans have found a quarterback, and the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts think they might have as well. That will make for a challenging division.

Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will: Be a playoff team. I think this is one of the most critical seasons in franchise history. Are the Jaguars a perennial contender or did the franchise miscalculate the roster and therefore is headed the other way ... again? I believe in the Jags' roster. This was supposed to be the year the Jaguars hit a new level. In 2022, it wasn't supposed to be a playoff year, but it was. In 2023, it was supposed to be a playoff year, but it wasn't. In 2024, it needs to be a playoff year – and probably a division title year – and make a run deep into January. The Jags have a lot of continuity in their building, and I think that will help them land where they need to be in 2024.

John Oehser, jaguars.com Senior Writer

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will be: A contending team. If the Jaguars can stay healthy, and if the interior of the offensive and defensive lines improve, this team will be improved. The Jaguars were 9-8 the last two seasons, so any improvement will mean double-digit victories for the first time since 2007. The guess here is the Jaguars will be a significantly better running team and better against the run, and that they will enter the final week of the season with a chance for the AFC South title.

Brian Sexton, jaguars.com Senior Correspondent

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will be: Reclaim the division title from Houston. Head Coach Doug Pederson added coaches and players with strong resumes in the offseason. He wanted guys who had experience with winning and championships to infuse his organization with a sense of what it takes to win big games. The Jaguars went 1-5 in big games last season. That experience, plus the experience of guys like free-agent center Mitch Morse and free-agent defensive lineman Arik Armstead, should help get this team right.

J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com Reporter/Editor

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will be: In the hunt for the division title, if they can manage the tough road gauntlet in the first four games, the London games and the four-game stretch after against a bunch of NFC North teams. If they get to the Week 12 bye at 6-5 or better, then they should have a real chance to make some noise down the stretch in the final six games – not only in the division, but in the AFC with a chance for a high playoff seeding.

Kainani Stevens, Team Reporter/Producer

  • The Jaguars in 2024 will be: Return to the playoffs. I'm not sure if they will win the division, but I think they'll put themselves in a position to play on Wild Card Weekend.
