JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars' 2023 season was about more than numbers.

But make no mistake:

While the Jaguars' 2023 didn't end as well as it began, it still included some remarkable performances and remarkable statistics.

Here are five more statistics that shaped the Jaguars' '23 season:

1. So reliable, so consistent. Tight end Evan Engram entered 2023 with a new contract as a core player in the Jaguars' offense – and as a go-to receiver for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He proved to be just that, putting together the most productive of his seven NFL seasons and catching a career-high 114 passes for a career-high 963 yards and four touchdowns. The 114 receptions led all NFL tight ends in 2023 and were two shy of the franchise record for receptions in a season set by Pro Bowl wide receiver Jimmy Smith in 1999. The total also was two shy of the NFL record for receptions in a single season set by Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. Engram in two seasons with the Jaguars has the two highest single-season reception totals in franchise history; he caught 73 passes in 2022, his first season with the team. Engram, who this week was named to his second career Pro Bowl, finished behind only George Kittle (1,020) of the San Francisco 49ers and Travis Kelce (984) of the Kansas City Chiefs in receiving yards for a tight end in 2023. He also led all NFL tight ends in 2023 with 13 games with at least five receptions and his active streak of 18 games with at least four receptions is second in the NFL behind Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's 33.
2. The century mark. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley entered the 2023 season in tricky circumstances, not only playing for a new team but playing for the first time after nearly two years. Ridley, acquired in a trade from the Atlanta Falcons late in the 2023 season, missed the 2022 season while serving an NFL-mandated suspension. He turned in his second career 1,000-yard season in 2023, catching 76 passes for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. He led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. He's the seventh player in franchise history with 1,000 yards receiving in a season (Jimmy Smith, nine seasons; Keenan McCardell, four; Allen Robinson, one; Christian Kirk, one; Allen Hurns, one; DJ Chark Jr., one)
3. The streak continues. Guard/center Tyler Shatley is far from the Jaguars' most high-profile player. He is perhaps their most reliable player – and he in fact is one of the most-reliable players in franchise history. Shatley in 2023 moved into first place on the franchise's list for consecutive games played, finishing the season with his streak at 140 – 12 games ahead of former Jaguars long snapper Joe Zelenka. Shatley's streak began on November 8, 2015. The 10-year veteran currently has the third-longest active consecutive games played streak among NFL offensive linemen behind center Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles (147) and tackle Jake Matthews of the Atlanta Falcons (147).
4. So consistent, so productive. Jaguars inside linebacker Foye Oluokun has been one of the NFL's most consistently productive players at his position in recent seasons – a trend that continued throughout the 2023 season. Oluokun, who joined the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent from the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 offseason, led the NFL in tackles in 2021 with the Falcons with 192 and led the league in tackles again with the Jaguars in 2022 with 184. He finished fourth in the NFL in 2023 with 173 tackles and his 549 tackles in the last three seasons leads the league. He also leads the NFL in tackles with 357 since joining the Jaguars.
5. Net results. Jaguars punter Logan Cooke consistently has been among the NFL's best punters in six NFL seasons – all with the Jaguars – and he maintained that status in 2023. Cooke ranked No. 7 in the NFL in 2023 in net punting at 43.6 yards per punt and his 47.5 percentage of punts inside the 20 ranked third in the NFL. Cooke's 162 career punts inside the 20 ranks first in franchise history and his 43.3-yard career net average ranks first in NFL history among players with at least 300 career punts.
