Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin and defensive coordinator Gary Moeller have agreed that Moeller will not continue with the team's coaching staff. Moeller joined the Jaguars on February 6 of last year following four seasons with the Detroit Lions.

"I have great respect for coach Gary Moeller," Coughlin said. "However, after evaluating the past season, we disagree on where we are. With an eye on the team's future, the best solution is to make a change now."

Moeller completes his seventh season of coaching in the NFL and his 37th year of coaching overall. In 2001 the Jaguars allowed just 17.9 points per game, the fourth-fewest in the American Football Conference. The defense tied for 16th in NFL rankings, with the 10th-place run defense and the 22nd-ranked pass defense.
