JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have their new general manager.
James Gladstone, previously the Los Angeles Rams' director of scouting strategy, on Friday was named the Jaguars' general manager.
"It's my honor to introduce James Gladstone as the new general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars," Jaguars Owner Shad Khan said in a statement.
Gladstone, the Rams' director of scouting strategy the past three seasons, spent nine seasons with the franchise. He was the Rams' director of scouting in 2021 and the director of scouting strategy in 2019-2020. He also served as the Rams' senior assistant to the general manager/player personnel coordinator in 2018.
He served as a senior assistant to the general manager with the Rams in 2016-2017, with Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen working as an assistant with the Rams from 2018-2020 and 2022.
"James emerged as my choice, and our choice, following a painstaking but energizing interview process that left nothing to doubt," Khan said.
The Jaguars interviewed 11 candidates over the past two weeks, a process that included five "in-person" candidates over the last three days.
"Every candidate delivered, and I am grateful to them all for their preparation and time spent with us this week in Jacksonville," Khan said. " In the end, we found James to be a class ahead and exceptional in every regard – vision, new ideas, communication, chemistry and a keen understanding of the league and our team, to name a few of many virtues he will bring immediately to the Jaguars.
"It's going to be fun watching James work with our football leadership team of Liam Coen, Tony Boselli and Tony Khan, but most of all it will be rewarding. I am confident of that."
Khan added, "This is also an occasion to thank Jaguars fans everywhere for their support and faith over the years. I know we can count on them to warmly welcome James to Duval while rallying behind our organization and team as we chart a new and promising path forward."
Gladstone in his most recent role worked directly with longtime General Manager Les Snead "in strategic planning and execution of day-to-day scouting processes," according to the Rams. He also was "responsible for scouting current and prospective players and providing frequent analysis on special projects."
The Rams secured four NFC West division titles and appeared in the postseason six times during Gladstone's tenure, including a Super Bowl LVI victory following the 2021 season.
Gladstone before joining the Rams served as the Student Activities Director and football coach at Clayton High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He also served as the Media and Literacy Coordinator and football coach at St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis.
Gladstone played wide receiver for Westminster College, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He was a two-time captain, was named Athlete of the Year honors and was named to the BSN All-American team. He also holds a Master's Degree in Education Administration.
He and his wife, Julie, are natives of St. Louis, Missouri. They have one daughter.
