JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars appear to have their new head coach.
Liam Coen on Friday agreed to terms to the Head Coach position, ending a search that began the day after the 2024 regular season.
Coen called it "an opportunity of a lifetime, and one that I am going to run with to instill a championship culture and winning tradition here in Duval."
"To repeat my message earlier this week, I am deeply committed to building a winner here in Jacksonville," Jaguars Owner Shad Khan said in a statement. "I also believe in being judged by action, not words.
"That's why I took swift and decisive action this week to hire Liam Coen as the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. I am pumped that Liam is accepting the challenge and opportunity to build the winner that Jaguars fans and partners fully deserve. I know our players feel the same."

Coen spent this past season as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive coordinator. He served as the Los Angeles Rams' offensive coordinator in 2022 and the University of Kentucky's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2021 and again in 2023.
"This doesn't happen without the support and opportunities that my family and I have been afforded throughout my career, especially during this past season in Tampa Bay." Coen said. "We thank [Buccaneers Head Coach] Todd Bowles for his continued support and the entire Buccaneers organization for the experience, and know they will have success ahead.
"Most of all, we are grateful to Shad Khan for his belief in what we will bring to the Jaguars. We will work tirelessly to reward his confidence. As head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, I will hire a first-class coaching staff, establish a distinctive and effective brand of football on both sides of the ball, and our players will live for the black and teal.
"Shad and Jaguars fans should expect nothing less, and that's what we plan to deliver and more. My wife Ashley and our family are honored to be here and a part of the Jacksonville community. We are ready to get to work."
The Buccaneers' offense, after ranking 23rd in the NFL in yards (313.0) and 20th in points (20.5) per game in 2023, ranked third in yards (399.5) and fourth in points (29.5) in 2024.
Coen, 39, became the youngest head coach in Jaguars history. This is his first head-coaching position.
The Buccaneers in 2024 were the only team in the NFL Top 5 in rushing and passing, ranking fourth with 149.2 yards per game rushing and third with 250.4 yards per game passing.
Coen, a 15-year coaching veteran, first coached in the NFL as an assistant wide receivers coach with the Rams in 2018-2019 before serving as an assistant quarterbacks coach with the Rams in 2020.
Previous Jaguars head coaches: Tom Coughlin (1995-2002), Jack Del Rio (2003-2011), Mike Mularkey (2012), Gus Bradley (2013-2016), Doug Marrone (2017-2020), Urban Meyer (2021) and Doug Pederson (2022-2024).
Mel Tucker served as interim head coach for the final five games in 2011, with Marrone serving as interim head coach for the final two games in 2016 and Darrell Bevell serving as interim head coach for the final four games in 2021.
