Big Day, Big Honors for Jaguars Rookie Wide Receiver: Brian Thomas Jr.

0123 Pro Bowl + ROY BTJ

JACKSONVILLE – Brian Thomas Jr. has received a big, big honor.

The Jaguars' wide receiver also has a chance for an even bigger honor following one of the biggest rookie seasons in franchise history.

Thomas on Thursday morning was named a finalist for the Associated Press 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, news that came the same day he was named to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.

"I'm super proud of what I came out and did this season," Thomas said shortly after the Jaguars' overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the 2024 regular-season finale. "It doesn't stop now. I've just got to keep going and keep pushing."

Thomas, the No. 23 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft from Louisiana State University, would be the first player in franchise history to be named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

He also became the fifth wide receiver and first rookie wide receiver in franchise history named to the Pro Bowl. Previous Pro Bowl Jaguars wide receivers: Jimmy Smith (following the 1997-2001 seasons), Keenan McCardell (1996), and Allen Robinson (2015), D.J. Chark Jr. (2019).

Thomas in 2024 set Jaguars rookie records for receptions (87), yards (1,282) and touchdowns (10), ranking first among NFL rookies and third overall in receiving yards. He also ranked first among rookies and tied for sixth overall in receiving touchdowns.

He led all NFL rookies in 2024 and tied for first overall with five touchdowns of 50 or more yards, and became the fourth rookie since 1970 with at least 1,200 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.

He also registered 60-plus receiving yards and a touchdown reception in eight games, tying Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss (1998) for the most games with at least 60 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown by an NFL rookie.

Thomas was named to the Pro Bowl Games as a replacement for Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, who is unable to participate because of injury.
