Jaguars Close To Full Health With the Final Injury Report Ahead of Week 16 vs. Raiders

FRI INSIDER

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars should be healthy entering Sunday.

With the Jaguars traveling to Las Vegas for a road game without playoff ramifications, the team is near full health with a scant few players listed on the injury report.

The injury list is short, and not overly serious.

"They're all fine," Head Coach Doug Pederson said as the Jaguars (3-11) prepared to play the Las Vegas Raiders (2-12) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sunday.

The Jaguars this week listed four players on the injury report:

  • Tight end Brenton Strange (shoulder)
  • Left guard Ezra Cleveland (knee)
  • Right guard Brandon Scherfff (knee/shoulder)
  • Left tackle Walker Little (ankle). All practiced limited all three days this week and all were listed without game status on Friday's final injury report of the week, which means all are expected to be available to play Sunday.

"They're good," Pederson said.

Pederson on Friday also discussed Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones, specifically addressing the team's deep passing offense.

"We have the ability to shoot the ball down the field, obviously, with B.T. (rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.) and some of the guys," Pederson said. "It's a mindset that we're going to stay aggressive, we're going to be aggressive and we're going to take our shots. It's got to be that touchdown-to-check-down mentality, meaning if the shot is there, take it."

"I don't ever want the quarterback to shy away or be hesitant when there are opportunities to put the ball down the field. Playing the position, you've got control, so put the ball where you want the ball. That's something we talk about with all our quarterbacks."

Pederson earlier this week discussed the need to play younger players late in the season, and he reiterated Friday that a player such as rookie cornerback De'Antre Prince could play a more extensively role Sunday than in past weeks.

"It's going to be great for him," Pederson said. "Regardless of the number of snaps, it gives us an insight into the type of player and to who Tre is. He works hard at practice, and it's an opportunity to go play. It gives the player a lot of confidence if he can go out and play, play well and do some good things.

"These next few weeks, a lot of our young players, it's a great opportunity for them."
