The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed first-year tight end Colin Cloherty and placed tight end Brett Brackett on injured reserve.
Cloherty, 6-2, 252, played in four games for the Jaguars in 2011 and spent the 2012 preseason with the club before he was waived last Friday. He has also spent time with Indianapolis, Cleveland and San Francisco.
The former Brown standout finished with four receptions for 57 yards and three special teams tackles in 2011. He made his Jaguars debut on Dec. 11 against Tampa Bay and recovered a fumble on special teams and returned it eight yards for his first career touchdown.
Cloherty will wear jersey number 83.
Brackett had been claimed on waivers from Philadelphia on Saturday, but he suffered a knee injury in practice Monday.
