JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fourth-year LB Martrell Spaight and sixth-year OL Patrick Omameh, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars released rookie CB Dee Delaneyand placed fifth-year OL Brandon Linder on the team's reserve/injured list.
Spaight, 6-0, 243, has appeared in 34 career games for the Miami Dolphins (2018; four games) and the Washington Redskins (2015-17; 30), totaling 105 tackles and three passes defensed. Originally selected in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Spaight spent the 2015 season on Washington's reserve/injured list after appearing in one game as a rookie. In his second season, Spaight played in 14 games, making one start, and totaled 28 tackles and one INT. In 2017, he appeared in 15 games with six starts and posted a career-high 75 tackles and two passes defensed. Spaight was waived during final roster reductions this year and was signed as a free agent by Miami on Sept. 26, making one appearance for the Dolphins, before being waived on Nov. 9. Spaight, a native of North Little Rock, Ark., attended the University of Arkansas and was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2014.
Omameh, 6-4, 327, has appeared in 60 career games, including 23 for the Jaguars during the 2016-17 seasons. Most recently Omameh signed as an unrestricted free agent with the New York Giants during the 2018 offseason and appeared in seven games for the Giants, making six starts, before being waived on Nov. 10. Omameh has also spent time with Chicago (2015; 14 games), Tampa Bay (2013-14; 16) and San Francisco (2013; practice squad). Originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the 49ers on May 2, 2013, Omameh played collegiately at the University of Michigan and is a native of Columbus, Ohio.
The Jaguars currently have 53 players on their active roster.
