Jaguars select Evans in Round 6

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have selected Josh Evans in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Evans, a safety from the University of Florida, was the first selection of the sixth round Saturday. He was the 169th overall selection.

Evans (6-feet-1, 207 pounds) started 13 games as a senior and led the team with 79 tackles, with 4.5 for loss. He also had 2.5 sacks and three interceptions.

The Jaguars had used the No. 2 selection on Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel, then selected safety Johnatha n Cyprien from Florida International with the first selection of the second round. The Jaguars selected University of Connecticut cornerback Dwayne Gratz with the second selection in Round 3.

The Jaguars selected South Carolina wide receiver Ace Sanders in the fourth round and Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson in the fifth round. Robinson is expected to play running back for the Jaguars.
