The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed fullback Greg Jones on injured reserve with an ankle injury and signed defensive tackle Attiyah Ellison off of the San Francisco 49ers practice squad to the active roster. Rookie cornerback Isaiah Gardner was activated from the team's practice squad with the roster spot vacated by Matt Jones' suspension, and running back Keon Lattimore was signed to the practice squad.
Ellison, 27, spent the past 14 weeks on the 49ers practice squad after being waived in the preseason. The third-year veteran has spent time with Carolina, Houston, Baltimore and San Francisco before signing with Jacksonville. The 6-3, 318-pounder was originally selected by Carolina in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Missouri. He will wear jersey No. 99.
Jones started seven of his 12 games this season at fullback and recorded 13 receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown. The fifth-year veteran missed last Sunday's game with his ankle injury ending a streak of 28 straight games played. He has started 34 of his 58 career games for Jacksonville.
Gardner had played in two games for the Jaguars this season primarily on special teams. He originally signed as an undrafted rookie out of Maryland. Lattimore, 24, was a teammate of Gardner at Maryland. The 5-11, 230-pound running back was originally signed by Dallas as an undrafted rookie in May.
