JACKSONVILLE – Two Jaguars legends are closer to immortality.

Former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor and former wide receiver Jimmy Smith, the leading rusher and receiver in franchise history, on Wednesday were among 50 modern-era candidates advancing in the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame voting process.

Taylor has been a semifinalist the past five years and a finalist last year.

Taylor, the No. 9 overall selection in the 1998 NFL Draft, rushed for 11,695 yards and 66 touchdowns in 13 NFL seasons. He rushed for 11,271 yards and 62 touchdowns with Jacksonville from 1998-2008.

Smith, who signed with the Jaguars as a free agent before their 1995 inaugural season, caught 862 career passes – all with the Jaguars from 1995-2005 – for 12,287 yards and 67 touchdowns. He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection from 1996-2000.

The Hall will announce 25 semifinalists for the 2025 Hall class in about four weeks.
