JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a ceremony on Monday afternoon, Sept. 26, at the Yulee Sports Complex, Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation President Peter Racine and Jaguars Director of Player Development – Youth Football Marcus Pollard took part in a ribbon cutting to officially open a new Jaguars-branded football field.
In 2015, Jaguars Owner Shad Khan announced a significant increase in the team's commitment to support local youth football through the renovation and construction of ten new or refurbished football fields in the Jacksonville market area over three years. Last February, the Jaguars Foundation delivered a $100,000 check to Nassau County to help renovate the Yulee Sports Complex. These funds were from the NFL Foundation's Youth Football Field Grant program and are matched by funds from Nassau County.
This grant allowed massive improvements to take place to the existing field at the Yulee Sports Complex, as well as the conversion of a multi-purpose/soccer field into a new youth football field. The field marked the fourth completed field of the ten announced by Khan.
The construction on these fields began in February was completed at the end of September. The ribbon cutting ceremony included the Yulee District Commissioner Pat Edwards, Nassau County Board of County Commission Chair Walter Boatright and other representatives from Nassau County.
