Sen'Derrick Marks, defensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars, will serve as the headline speaker at the 2016 Pop Warner Scholar Banquet on Friday night and Saturday morning, May 27-28, at Disney's Yacht Club Resort.
Each year Pop Warner strives to provide its athletes with fun learning experiences while congratulating them on their successes on and off the field. Participating youth are inspired to excel not only on the football field but also in the classroom, which is why the 56th annual scholars' banquet is taking place in Orlando.
Marks, who grew up playing youth football in Mobile, Ala., understands how important it is for children at a young age to learn how to play football properly, and the importance of making sure their class work is done properly. Marks will speak to more than 600 Pop Warner athletes from all over America about his youth football experience and obstacles he had to overcome in order for him to be the successful football player he is today.
Marks will also share a few experiences he has had as a professional athlete, such as how he has had to come back from injuries each of the last two years that kept him off the football field.
Friday night's event begins at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday morning's proceedings will start at 9 a.m. at Disney's Yacht Club Resort (1700 Epcot Resorts Blvd., Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830).
