For 18 Northeast Florida families New Year's resolutions of homeownership became a reality last week thanks in part to the volunteers of One Team. One Home.
The Jaguars joined TIAA Bank and Habitat for Humanity Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) on Thursday, January 16, to celebrate the dedication of 18 homes completed in the last few months in Jacksonville's urban core neighborhoods. New homeowners and their families were joined by representatives of both organizations as well as Jaguars alumni including former OT Leon Searcy and LB Kevin Hardy.
TIAA Bank Executive Vice President & General Counsel Mark Baum was on hand to congratulate the new homeowners.
"From saving for your down payment to the sweat equity you've put into this beautiful home, you've made your dream of home ownership a reality and all of us at TIAA Bank are very proud to have been part of your journey to success," Baum said.
Many of these 18 homes were part of the One Team. One Home. initiative, a joint, five-year, $2 million pledge by the Jaguars and TIAA Bank in partnership with seven local Habitat for Humanity affiliates to help build or repair 100 homes in Northeast Florida. Since the start of the program in 2018, One Team. One Home. volunteers and funding have helped make home ownership possible for 34 families across Northeast Florida. More than 100,000 volunteer constructions hours have been completed by One Team. One Home. throughout six Northeast Florida counties and seven different Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
