Michael Huyghue, the Jaguars' lead negotiator and chief manager of the team's salary cap through the first seven years of the team's history, is leaving the team for a new business venture and the Jaguars announced today that Huyghue will be replaced by Paul Vance, the team's general counsel.
Vance's title will be senior vice president/football operations. He has been with the team since 1994 and has handled all of the team's legal matters.
Huyghue is leaving the team to form Axcess Sports and Entertainment. Details of the business arrangement will be provided at a news conference on Monday.
"I want to thank Michael for his contributions and efforts … he played an important role in our start-up and our success," Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver said in a Jaguars press release. "We will continue to operate effectively, and Paul Vance will very capably handle these new responsibilities."
