Jaguars punter Chris Hanson, who suffered a leg injury yesterday, was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list today. He was replaced on the roster by veteran Mark Royals, who will handle the punting duties and hold for placekicks.
Royals, 38, was released by the Dolphins on September 29 after punting in the team's first three games with a 40.2-yard gross average and 36.3 net average, along with one touchback, five kicks inside the 20 and a 50 long. A 15-year veteran, Royals has the eighth-most punts in NFL history (1,071). He has a career punting average of 42.2 yards and a net of 34.5. He has played in 213 games and has punted in the playoffs seven seasons. His streak of 211 consecutive games played was snapped two weeks ago when he was released by Miami. The 6-5, 225-pound Royals played collegiately at Appalachian State and is a native of Hampton, Va.
The Jaguars made a change to their injury report today, adding WR Jimmy Redmond as questionable with a foot injury. The Dolphins reported no changes.
