Jacksonville Jaguars Quarterback David Garrard will host Fishing for the Cure – Garrard's Gamefish & Gridiron, a one-day sports celebrity fishing tournament and VIP party on May 15 at the Conch House Marina in St. Augustine. NFL players and other professional athletes will spend the day fishing with local boaters and sponsors. Prizes will be awarded to anglers in both inshore and offshore fish categories. Funds raised will benefit the David Garrard Foundation and will be used to support underprivileged local children who have a parent who is battling breast cancer and North Florida kids who are diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
Immediately following the weigh-in at the Conch House, the foundation will host a VIP party featuring great food and drink, live music, an auction featuring exclusive getaways and celebrity signings. All boat entries include two VIP party tickets; tickets to the VIP party are also available to those who are not fishing in the tournament. Jr. Anglers are welcome to participate in the tournament and attend the party.
"My family and I are excited about being able to take our passion for fishing and boating and use it as a way to support local children and families who are impacted by Crohn's disease and breast cancer," said David Garrard.
Online registration and full tournament details are available at www.fishingforthecure.org. A list of celebrity anglers and prizes will be released mid-March.
