JACKSONVILLE – As expected, the Jaguars will be without a starting wide receiver Sunday.
But they only will be without one front-line player at the position, with Cecil Shorts III and Allen Hurns active to play against the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Field Sunday afternoon.
Shorts and Hurns were declared active for the Jaguars' 2014 regular-season opener 90 minutes before kickoff Sunday, when seven players – including rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee – were declared inactive.
Lee will miss with a hamstring injury, having been ruled out Thursday.
Hurns, Shorts, rookie Allen Robinson and second-year veteran Mike Brown were the active receivers, with Tavarres King – signed from the Carolina Panthers' practice squad this week – inactive. Shorts and Robinson will start.
Also inactive were tight end Clay Harbor, right tackle Austin Pasztor, guard Tyler Shatley, cornerback Jeremy Harris and running back Storm Johnson.
Sam Young will start at right tackle, with rookie Luke Bowanko making his first NFL start at center. Mickey Shuler will start at tight end.
