FOUR STARTERS MISS GAME FOR JAGUARS

The Jaguars were without four starters against Buffalo due to injuries with running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring), wide receiver Cecil Shorts (groin), guard Will Rackley (concussion) and safety Johnathan Cyprien (thigh) all missing the game.    It marked the first missed games of the season for Jones-Drew, Shorts and Cyprien.   

Mike Brewster started in Rackley's place and fractured his left ankle in the first quarter and was replaced by Jacques McClendon who played the remainder of the game.

SEASON-HIGH 159 YARDS ON THE GROUND

The Jaguars rushed for a season-high 159 yards on 31 carries, their fourth consecutive game with 100 rushing yards.  It marks the longest streak by the club since the 2011 season. 

 

JAGUARS CONTINUE TO PILE UP TAKEAWAYS AND SACKS

The Jaguars had two takeaways against the Bills, an interception by Geno Hayes and a fumble recovery by Sen'Derrick Marks.  The Jaguars have 12 takeaways in the last six games (7 interceptions, 5 fumbles) and forced two safeties. 

Four different players recorded sacks for the Jaguars and increased their season total to 27.  The Jaguars need five sacks in the last two games for the most since the 2007 season (37).

 

FIRST CAREER START FOR JORDAN TODMAN; FINISHES WITH 109 RUSHING YARDS

First-year pro Jordan Todman made his first career start, replacing an injured Maurice Jones-Drew, and rushed for a career-high 109 yards on 25 carries.  He added a career-high four catches for 44 yards and finished with 153 yards from scrimmage.  He had runs of 33 and 16 yards and a reception of 30 yards.  He entered the game with 43 carries for 138 yards and eight catches for 55 yards through the first 13 games.

HAYES RECORDS INTERCEPTION IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES

Linebacker Geno Hayes picked off Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel in the first quarter and returned it 28 yards to set up a 32-yard field goal by Josh Scobee.  Hayes has an interception in back-to-back games for the second time in his career (2009) and increased his career total to six interceptions. 

 

BRANCH ADDS TO SACK TOTAL

Second-year defensive end Andre Branch registered a sack for the fourth time in the last five games.  Branch sacked Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel for a seven-yard loss early in the second quarter, his fifth sack of the season.  He had one sack as a rookie in 2012.

SCOBEE CONTINUES TO SHINE

Josh Scobeehit on both field goal attempts, connecting from 32 and 55 yards.   The 55-yarder tied for the second-longest of his career and longest since he hit from 55 yards on Sept. 18, 2011 at the New York Jets.*   *He improved to 23 of 36 for his career from 50-plus yards (63.9 pct).    He is 20 of 21 on field goals against Buffalo in eight career games.

Scobee is 21 of 23 on field goals (91.3 pct.) through 14 games and leads the team with 83 points.   He has connected on 43 straight field goals from less than 40 yards.

REMARKABLE MARKS

Fifth-year defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks continues to make plays for the Jaguars in his first season with the club.  Marks registered one sack, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery against the Bills.   He has a career-high four sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries through 14 games.

LEWIS CLIMBS THE RECEIVING CHARTS; THIRD STRAIGHT GAME WITH A TOUCHDOWN

Tight end Marcedes Lewis led the Jaguars with a season-high 54 yards on four catches with one touchdown.  Lewis hooked up with Chad Henne for a 13-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, his third straight game with a touchdown reception.    He had four touchdowns in seven career games against Buffalo.

Lewis moved into fourth place in franchise history with 290 career receptions for 3,463 yards and 24 touchdowns, surpassing Fred Taylor (286).

 

THREE STRAIGHT MULTI-TOUCHDOWN GAMES FOR HENNE

Quarterback Chad Henne threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 36 passing.  Henne has 12 career multi-touchdown games including three consecutive games.  It marked only the second time in his career with three straight games of multi-touchdown passes (first three games of 2010). 

Henne had three completions of 25-plus yards, hooking up with Jordan Todman (30), Clay Harbor (28) and Marcedes Lewis (25). 

POSLUSZNY LEADS DEFENSE

Linebacker Paul Posluszny had a game-high 13 tackles including one sack and added one quarterback hit.  Posluszny increased his season total to 139 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interception, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

TIDBITS

  • The Jaguars trailed at halftime for the first time since week eight against San Francisco.
  • The Jaguars have scored in nine consecutive quarters.
  • The Jaguars entered the game leading the NFL with only three fumbles lost.  The Jaguars had two fumbles lost against the Bills, the first lost fumbles since Oct. 27 against San Francisco.
  • The Bills rushed for 198 yards on 44 carries, the first 100-yard rushing game by a Jaguars opponent since Oct. 27 against San Francisco (span of five games).
  • Second-year safety Winston Guy tallied his first career sack and forced fumble.  Guy sacked Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel late in the third quarter and the ball was recovered by the Jaguars' Sen'Derrick Marks
  • Rookie running back Denard Robinson had a career-high 28 yards on two carries. 
  • First-year wide receiver Kerry Taylor made his second career start and produced a career-high four catches for 42 yards.
  • The Jaguars had a season-high eight (15 attempts) third down conversions.
  • The Jaguars finished with six penalties for 80 yards, the most yards penalized for the club through 14 games.
  • The Jaguars led for only 1:51.
  • Rookie wide receiver Ace Sanders scored his first career touchdown as he scored on a 12-yard pass from Chad Henne in the second quarter.
  • Punter Bryan Anger had three punts for a 45.3-yard average (44.0 net) with one downed inside the 20.  Anger's 86 punts through 14 games are the second-most in franchise history for a season.  He set the team record with 91 punts in 2012. 
  • Rookie linebacker LaRoy Reynolds returned to the lineup after missing the last four games.  He was suspended four games by the NFL on Nov. 12 for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.
  • Linebacker Russell Allen played in his 78th consecutive game, the ninth-longest streak in team history.
