General Manager Gene Smith used his final pick of the draft to select what he expects will be the Jaguars' punt-returner next season.
"Quick and fast," Smith said of sixth-round pick Scotty McGee of James Madison. "He has 4.3 speed. We did a lot of work on him. We feel very good about him as a person. He's got home run ability."
McGee had six returns for touchdowns in his four seasons at JMU. His reputation preceded him in his senior season and opponents kicked away from him.
"I'd like to think he'll establish himself as our punt-returner," Smith said. "It's kind of a need pick. The special teams coaches, scouts really liked this guy. The one thing about specialists is they're starters, so when you get them late in the draft, you're getting a lot of value."
