The Jaguars recently hosted the first-ever "Explore & Tour" evening for Touchdown Club members at Everbank Field.
Over 900 Touchdown Club seat owners attended the event inside the West Touchdown Club, getting the chance to hear from Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver, tour the Jaguars team facilities and sample the best the Touchdown Clubs have to offer.
Club patrons were welcomed with a red carpet as they entered the West Touchdown Club. They got VIP treatment at the end of the evening, too, when they got to see inside the Jaguars locker room and walk out of the Jaguars tunnel onto the field as part of a behind-the-scenes stadium tour.
Earlier, club seat owners heard words of encouragement from Weaver, who reminded them of the team's 3-6 record at the midway point of the 1996 season. The Jaguars went on to finish that regular season 9-7, qualified for the playoffs and made it to the AFC Championship game against New England after playoff wins over Buffalo and Denver.
Weaver said, "We all have to remember that the NFL is so competitive and the margin between winning and losing games is sometimes very small. We have to remain optimistic and make sure to look at things with the glass half full. There's still an opportunity for us to be successful. We were in a similar situation in 1996 and we went on a seven-game winning streak that took us all the way to the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots."
The "Explore & Tour" evening was designed not only for the Jaguars to show their appreciation to club seat owners but also to provide them with a re-introduction to the Touchdown Club facilities and fare. They were given opportunities to sample cuisine, enjoy games and prizes, meet Jaguars players and members of the ROAR and experience some great fun and entertainment including performances from Chroma, a live band that entertains fans in Teal Town and the parking lots on game day.
Macky Weaver, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Jaguars, said, "This was a great event for us to say thank you to our club seat owners but it also gave us a chance to get valuable feedback from them on how well we are performing off the field. We hope to build even further on that feedback."
The event was also a big hit with the fans.
Previous general bowl season ticket owner and now first-year Club seat owner Quentrail Carr said, "I'm attending with my son and we're both really enjoying this event. It was great to see all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the locker room and my son was just ecstatic going down the tunnel and on to the field.
"This is by far the best event we have attended all year and we look forward to coming back again next year."
And club seat owner Andy Eccher added, "There was a great buzz tonight. Thank you to the Jags for putting this on. Everyone I spoke with was really enjoying themselves. It was great to hear from Mr. Weaver too and encouraging to hear about the solid makeup of the roster and the future of the Jaguars in Jacksonville."
The Jaguars plan to establish the Touchdown Clubs Explore & Tour as an annual Club seat season ticket owner event.
