Buying tickets for charity

The Jacksonville business and community leaders have implemented significant initiatives this offseason to fill EverBank Field for Jaguars games, and with kickoff just around the corner another initiative will be implemented to benefit the nonprofit community.

The Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida will give fans an opportunity to contribute to local nonprofit organizations while supporting their favorite team.  The Nonprofit Center will be selling Jaguars tickets from $40-$50, and for every ticket sold through the organization's website $10 will be donated back to that organization. In addition, two anonymous donors will match the donations dollar-for-dollar for the first 2,000 tickets sold by The Nonprofit Center.

Rena Coughlin, president and CEO of the Nonprofit Center, helped establish this philanthropic program and says it is a great way to involve the community with nonprofits.

"Towards the end of the season last year the nonprofits wanted to step up and help avoid Jaguars blackouts," Coughlin said. "So we started buying tickets took advantage of special pricing for tickets allocated to nonprofits."

Some of the nonprofit organizations involved in the partnership are the American Red Cross, Best Buddies Jacksonville, the Ronald McDonald House and more than 50 others.

"The program is a solid way for folks to count on new friends and new donors for their organization and for Jaguars fans to make a difference in their community while enjoying football," Coughlin said.

There are three different price ranges fans can choose from, available for every game this upcoming 2010 season. These individual game tickets are open on the website before the general public can purchase them, another incentive to the program. Fans are also able to purchase up to 40 tickets online at one time.

Visit www.nonprofitctr.organd click on the "Give and Go!" icon to select a nonprofit organization and specific seats. When fans purchase tickets on the website, the $10 is automatically donated.

If you know a nonprofit organization that would like to be involved, please visit www.nonprofitctr.orgor contact the Nonprofit Center at 390-4007.
