JACKSONVILLE – He has been reliable in critical moments. He's a big reason the Jaguars have been, too.
Kicker Brandon McManus, whose consistency has been key throughout the Jaguars' current five-game winning streak, on Thursday was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.
McManus during the Jaguars' 5-0 October converted 12 of 12 field goals and 12 of 12 extra points, also converting four field goals of 50 or more yards during the span: 56, 51, 51 and 50. He converted four of four field goals – including a 51- and 50-yarder -- in a 20-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday.
McManus was voted Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against Atlanta in Week 4 in which he converted three field goals – including a 56-yarder. He also surpassed 1,000 career points in a Week 7 victory over the Saints.
He had 26 touchbacks with 48 total points in October.
