THREE JAGUARS UNDERGO SURGERY

Three members of the Jacksonville Jaguars underwent

end-of-the-season surgery today: DE Joel Smeenge, S Travis Davis

and CB Cordell Taylor. The surgeries were performed by Jaguars

team physicians at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute.

Smeenge, 30, had a shoulder arthroscopy to repair a torn labrum.

After a period in a sling, he will start rehabilitation and is expected

to return for the 1999 season.

Davis, 26, injured his right knee toward the end of the season and

underwent a right knee arthroscopy for the repair of torn cartilage.

Taylor, 25, was bothered by problems with his left knee and left foot

during his rookie season, and he underwent a left knee arthroscopy

and a clean-up procedure on his great toe.

Davis and Taylor will begin rehab next week and are expected to

participate in the team's offseason conditioning program that will

begin in March.
