JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars stayed defensive late Friday.
They did so by addressing the secondary by focusing on the cornerback position.
Jarrian Jones, a cornerback from Florida State, on Friday night was selected by the Jaguars No. 96 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft – the 32nd selection of Round 3.
Jones (6-feet-2, 190 pounds), a five-year collegiate starter, transferred to FSU after playing for Mississippi State. He was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention selection as a senior this past season. He registered 25 tackles in 2023 with five tackles for loss, a sack and three pass breakups with a forced fumble and three interceptions.
He had five career pass interceptions.
Jones became the seventh Florida State player selected by the Jaguars in the NFL Draft, the first since cornerback Jalen Ramsey (Round 1, 2016).
The Jaguars hold six more selections in the '24 draft: Round 4 (No. 114 overall), Round 4 (No. 116 overall), Round 5 (No. 153 overall), Round 5 (No. 167 overall), Round 6 (No. 212 overall) and Round 7 (No. 236 overall).
