Four Jaguars players will be commended for their community involvement this season, and one will be named the Community Leader of the Year, at the Jaguars/Morgan Stanley Community Leader Awards luncheon scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the West Touchdown Club at ALLTEL Stadium.
In partnership with team sponsor Morgan Stanley, the award and a $500 charity donation have been presented monthly during the NFL regular season to the player that has demonstrated exemplary community involvement. The overall winner announced at tomorrow's luncheon will receive an additional $3,000.00 check for his designated charity.
This season's honorees include punter Chris Hanson, September's winner, who designated the Community Asthma Partnership as his non-profit recipient; linebacker Wali Rainer, October's winner (Lee Boys & Girls Club); rookie quarterback David Garrard, the November honoree (Baptist Cancer Institute); and wide receiver Micah Ross, this month's winner who designated the Otis F. Smith Foundation as his charity recipient.
Players and their guests, along with representatives from the four local charities, will be on hand for the presentations.
