Patients at Wolfson Children's Hospital were surprised last Tuesday to receive a visit from three Jaguars players – LB Akin Ayodele, MLB T.J. Slaughter and S Rashean Mathis.
Some of the young patients were shocked when Jaguars players walked in to their rooms to visit them. One mother called her son's friend to tell him he had Jaguars players in his room. One little girl was upset that she didn't have her autograph book when she found out players would be stopping by her room. When the players walked in she immediately got shy and didn't know what to say when they asked her questions. All she could do was giggle and smile. Another little girl just looked on with amazement when players walked in her room.
"It's always a good feeling to see a child smile, especially when they are going through hard times," said Ayodele.
"I try to let them know they are special," said Slaughter.
When Jaguars players make hospital visits the parents are typically notified in advance, but during this visit the parents were just as surprised as their children. The players showed up with stickers and pens for the children. The children also received a special autographed card signed by all three players.
