Jaguars Suit Up to Intercept Cancer: 5 Survivors Honored

W8-HALFTIME STORY

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the NFL's Crucial Catch mission is to fight cancer through early detection and risk reduction. In partnership with the American Cancer Society and UF Health Cancer Center, we are providing resources to help individuals understand the importance of early dedication to help reduce their cancer risk.

The Jaguars, along with every other NFL team, raises awareness during their Crucial Catch game, which features on-field and in-stadium Crucial Catch elements. Crucial Catch games also present a special opportunity to honor cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer.

During the Jaguars' Week 8 game against the Packers, we honored the following survivors at halftime:

W8-GAMETHEME-CC - Roxie Starks
  • Roxie Starks (Ovarian Cancer): A big life experience and I have been through a lot before this. A life-changing experience! I was treated in both Jax and Gainesville. Dr. Iglesias was my surgeon and is so awesome. God blessed me with some amazing doctors at UF Health.
W8-GAMETHEME-CC-FLETCHER
  • Fletcher Huddleston (Pediatric Cancer): Fletcher was diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitt's Lymphoma and Leukemia when he was 5 years old. He underwent an intense chemotherapy regiment over the next six months which took an extreme toll on his mind and body. Fletcher is one of the lucky ones and has now been cancer free for seven (7) years and turned 13 earlier this month!
W8-GAMETHEME-CC - LAUREN PRICE
  • Lauren Price (Bone Cancer): Just after her 8th birthday, Lauren was diagnosed with bone cancer in her femur. Within the first few weeks of starting third grade, she started chemotherapy. After nine weeks of chemotherapy and just days before thanksgiving, she had a partial amputation. Her life was changed forever by her experiences in the hospital, but it shaped her into the person she is today and showed her what's truly valuable in life.
W8-GAMETHEME-CC- COURTNEY BAILEY
  • Courtney Bailey (Breast Cancer): Courtney was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer when she was just 34 years old. She immediately underwent IVF treatment before chemotherapy, a single mastectomy and radiation. She is still in current treatment for the next 5-10 years while taking oral chemo and hormone therapy. She is extremely grateful for her team of doctors and feels she owes UF Health her life. Courtney urges EVERYONE, especially young women, to do monthly self-breast exams and to always advocate for themselves if they sense something is wrong.
W8-GAMETHEME-CC-KEN MOLLMAN
  • Kenneth Mollman (Prostate Cancer): Kenneth was diagnosed with Prostate cancer and received treatment at UF Health. He felt like the doctors treated him like an old friend and were there for him the whole way managing his expectations with treatments.
