Player of the week

Jaguars linebacker Mike Peterson was today named by the NFL the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Peterson recorded 15 tackles, 1.0 sack and an interception which he returned 26 yards for a touchdown in the Jaguars' 30-3 win over Baltimore. The Jaguars' record improved to 6-3. Peterson, who has a sack in three consecutive games, has led the Jacksonville defense in tackles in all nine games this season. The 6-1, 235-pounder from Gainesville played a large role in limiting the Ravens to 163 total net yards. Baltimore penetrated Jacksonville's 20-yard line only once on the day.

This marks the first Player of the Week award for Peterson and he is the first Jaguars linebacker to ever win the award. He is the first Jaguars defender to win the honors since Rashean Mathis in Week 3 of 2004.
