On Tuesday, November 4, the Jaguars will conduct a news conference at 11 a.m. to announce the team's 1997 True Value/NFL Man of the Year. The news conference will take place in the Media Lobby inside Gate 1 at ALLTEL Stadium (southwest corner of stadium). The player receiving the award will be introduced and will be available for interviews.
This year's Jaguars nominees included offensive tackle Tony Boselli, offensive tackle Leon Searcy and defensive end Jeff Lageman. Previous winners have included former Jaguars cornerback Vinnie Clark in 1995 and punter Bryan Barker last year. Team winners become eligible for the $25,000 national award announced annually during Super Bowl week.
The True Value/NFL Man of the Year Award is the only league-sponsored award honoring NFL players for their community-service work as well their accomplishments on the field.
Representatives from the player's designated charity will also be on hand at Tuesday's news conference to accept a $5,000 donation from True Value.
