The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed guard Vince Manuwai, their third-round selection in this year's draft. He is the eighth of the nine draft picks to sign a contract, leaving only No. 1 pick Byron Leftwich without a contract.
The Jaguars also placed defensive end Tony Brackens on the active/physically unable to perform list. Brackens is still rehabilitating from last November's microfracture surgery on his left knee, as well as an emergency appendicitis that he underwent on June 15.
The Jaguars also signed safety Rick Sherrod, a first-year player who has been with the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys. The 6-2, 195-pound Sherrod played four years at West Virginia, where he led the NCAA with 15.6 tackles per game as a senior. He is a native of Charleston, West Virginia. He will wear jersey No. 26.
The Jaguars will begin their 2003 training camp with 87 players on the roster.
