The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed quarterback Byron Leftwich on injured reserve, and signed defensive back David Richardson from the practice squad.
Leftwich, 26, had started the first six games of the season and completed 108 of 183 passes for 1,159 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. The fourth-year veteran underwent surgery on Nov. 21 on his injured left ankle in Birmingham, Ala. and has been inactive for the last five weeks. In his four seasons in Jacksonville, he has completed 789 of 1,344 passes for 9,042 yards with 51 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.
Richardson, a third-year player out of Cal Poly, had been re-signed to the Jaguars practice squad on Nov. 22. The 6-0, 208-pound defensive back appeared in nine games and registered four tackles in three seasons with the Jaguars.
