LAS VEGAS, Nev. – This is getting a bit repetitive.
Actually, it has become a lot repetitive.
The Jaguars on Sunday lost to the Las Vegas Raiders, 19-14, at Allegiant Stadium. And while there were details that were different than many of the team's previous 11 losses this season, the big-picture elements were largely the same.
Rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is really good.
And not much else on this team is right now.
They couldn't make big plays at big times. The secondary isn't good enough. The offense isn't consistent enough. This time, there were too many penalties at critical times.
Again and again. Too repetitive.
Let's get to it …
Glenn from Tampa
Johnny, watching one of the bottom three teams in the league slice up the Jags defense doesn't even hurt anymore. Is it over yet? I'm almost looking forward to convincing myself that next year will be better….
Sunday was not a particularly good day for the Jaguars. It was not a particularly compelling game. It was not cool. Fans did not like it.

This team is a dumpster fire. Run for two yards, throw incomplete, throw incomplete, punt. Against the (second) worst team in the league. How did we fall into this abyss of crap?
How did they get to where they were Sunday? Backups at most of the skill positions on a team that wasn't great offensively even before injuries forced the Jaguars to play backups at most of the skill positions. Start there. You don't have to stay there. But start there.

Are you sure interceptions aren't in the playbook?
Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones did not throw an interception Sunday.

OK, let's try this again. We have to watch three more weeks of this?
This was again the much-ballyhooed, sometimes-premature, oft-entertaining First Email of the Game. Fans don't have to watch, but Jaguars fans at the time of the email had the opportunity to watch three more games in the 2024 regular season. As of the publishing of this O-Zone Late Night, that number is down to two.

Hi, KOAF. What was up with the uniforms the Jags were wearing in Vegas? That was not teal they were wearing. Almost looked like Titans baby blue.
The Jaguars wore white jerseys and teal britches Sunday.

In the race to the worst team you've covered, where does this one come in? It clearly sucks, but what years were the WORST?
I have neither the energy nor inclination to think hard enough to answer this question. I'm not saying it's not a legitimate question. I'm just saying I'm tired.
Brandon from Louisville, KY
It's your job, so I get it. But there's nothing really new to say is there?
Not really, no.
Nick from Annapolis, MD
Another week, another blown chance for a 60-yard field goal due to a turnover. Wow.
Not for the first time this season, and perhaps not for the last, I also was sort of pulling for a 60-plusser from rookie Cam Little at the end of the first half. I would have clicked on that.

Is there any way that the Jags don't do a complete organizational re-set now? I mean, the culture is right back where it was three years ago as far as the losing goes and today was the worst. If they don't, I will express my frustration by sitting next season out. It's gotten so bad.
There's a way. The way would be if Owner Shad Khan decided to retain General Manager Trent Baalke and/or Head Coach Doug Pederson. That seems to many fans ridiculous, particularly in the "real time" of a disappointing season. I don't know what Khan will do after the season. Few other than Khan do. But yes … there's a way.

Even our best player sucked today. 42 yds per punt? Might as well cut him with the rest of them.
One not fer punter Logan Cooke, though an argument could be made that – despite Cooke struggling to an unusual degree Sunday – perhaps this reaction was a bit extreme.

I can accept missed tackles or getting beat on a few plays, but FOUR offsides called (two accepted) by lining up in the neutral zone? No, not acceptable especially by three of your veteran frontline players. The team looked unfocused. The execution was very poor in all phases of the game. John, have they quit on the season?
Sunday didn't feel like quit, necessarily. It did feel like a team that's not very good and that is long since out of playoff contention playing on the West Coast – and playing three days before Christmas. That can make a team unfocused. It can darned sure make execution poor. Those things are different than quit.
ALBERT from Dowling Park, FL
Is this really professional football?
Damned right it is.
