Doug Pederson on Trevor Lawrence, O-Line Play Through 7 Weeks | The Day After

Week 8 Day After

JACKSONVILLETrevor Lawrence is playing well, and that has been a positive.

Head Coach Doug Pederson said while that has been true of the Jaguars' fourth-year quarterback in recent weeks, that's not all that different than he has played all season.

"He has done a great job for us," Pederson said.

Pederson, speaking Monday – a day after the Jaguars’ 32-16 victory over the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium in London – discussed multiple aspects of the team's second victory in three games. Among them: Lawrence's recent strong stretch.

Lawrence has completed 66 of 89 passes (74.16 percent) for 798 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions in the last three games. He completed 65 of 122 (53.28 percent) for 729 yards with four touchdowns and an interception in the first four games.

Pederson was asked Monday if Lawrence was a streaky quarterback.

"It's an interesting question," he said. "Let's hope he's streaky and he gets on the streak. That's what we all we all hope for. I think, too, he's continuing to grow with what we're doing and learning. It's only his third year in this system and playing this position.

"If this is him getting on a streak, let's keep it going and let's stay with the hot hand."

Pederson also on Monday discussed the Jaguars' offensive line, which did not allow a sack Sunday for a second time in three games and also helped the Jaguars outrush the Patriots 171-38.

"What you're seeing is these guys have now logged a lot of time together, and there's some continuity there," Pederson said. "If you just go back to last year and all the different line combinations we had each week, it's difficult. It's hard to get consistency."

Whereas the Jaguars played seven starting line combinations last season, they started the same five linemen – left tackle Cam Robinson, left guard Ezra Cleveland, center Mitch Morse, right guard Brandon Scherff and right tackle Anton Harrison – in the first seven games this season.

"You're seeing the consistency upfront," Pederson said. "We've scaled back on the amount of run scheme, keeping it simple for those guys so we can call the same plays multiple times in games. It has been good for them. It gives them a lot of confidence, too, knowing they can go out knowing exactly what's going to happen and just go execute.

"It has been good that we've had the five guys together."
