Jaguars HC Doug Pederson Gives Injury Updates That Will Impact Week 5 vs. Colts

1004 Friday Update - Week 5

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars could be getting a bit healthier.

While their top pass rusher is uncertain for Sunday, multiple players could return when the Jaguars return home for the first time in three games.

"We're slowly getting some of our pieces, some of our injured players back," Head Coach Doug Pederson said Friday as the Jaguars (0-4) prepared to play the Indianapolis Colts (2-2) at EverBank Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m.

Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, who has one sack this season after registering a franchise-record 17.5 sacks last season, was listed as questionable with a concussion on Friday's final injury report of the week. Hines-Allen sustained the injury in a loss to the Houston Texans this past Sunday and practiced limited Thursday and Friday.

Pederson said he was "optimistic" Hines-Allen can be cleared from concussion protocol.

"He still has to get through another phase, but he's doing well," Pederson said.

Pederson also said safety Darnell Savage (quadriceps) and linebacker Devin Lloyd (knee) are expected to play Sunday. Savage has missed the last three games, with Lloyd missing the loss to the Texans. Both were listed as questionable Friday.

"Both those guys should play," Pederson said, adding of Savage: "It's big to get him back. Brings some leadership, brings a little energy out there in a veteran player who's played."

Tight end Evan Engram remains "day-to-day" after missing the last three games. He was listed as questionable on the Friday injury report after practicing limited all three days this week. Pederson said Engram likely will be a gametime decision Sunday.

"He's done some good things this week," Pederson said. "We'll see where he's at later as we get closer."

NOTABLE

  • Linebacker Yasir Abdullah (neck) also was listed as questionable Friday, as was safety Daniel Thomas (hamstring). All other players listed on the injury report this week – running back Tank Bigsby (shoulder), wide receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder), running back Travis Etienne Jr. (shoulder), cornerback Jarrian Jones (shoulder) – were listed without a status Friday and are expected to be available Sunday.
