The Jacksonville Jaguars today released veteran tight end Johnnie Mitchell, who was attempting a comeback after having not appeared in a game since 1996. The roster move leaves the Jaguars with 86 players and five tight ends.
After taking their first day off on Sunday, the Jaguars returned to the practice fields for two sessions today, as their 2003 preseason opener on Saturday night in Minnesota draws near.
"They had a little time off yesterday, and as a coach you're always concerned with 'Can they regain their focus?' " said head coach Jack Del Rio. "But we were able to do that and get in some excellent work."
