Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker will be distributing the Playmaker 11 Scholarship to 11 high school seniors in Jacksonville and Orlando through the Mike Sims-Walker Foundation.
Sims-Walker created the foundation earlier this year to educate individuals and families about the prevention of colon cancer and provide support to families affected by the diagnosis of colon cancer and its treatment. The foundation was established to honor the memory Sims-Walker's father, Michael Sims, who lost his battle to colon cancer in 2008.
Interested students must submit a YouTube video or essay about preventing colon cancer for a chance earn to a one-time $1,000 scholarship or one of 10 one-time $200 book stipends for college.
Applicants will need to be enrolled in a two or four-year college for the 2010-11 school year. The deadline to apply is June 4. More information about the foundation and the scholarship can be found at http://www.playmaker11scholarship.com /.
