Jaguars Sign Walker

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie wide receiver Mike Walker to a contract today. Walker was drafted with the Jaguars' pick in the third round. He was one of the 11 players selected by the Jaguars in the 2007 NFL Draft in April. Eight of the 11 draft picks have now signed contracts.

Walker, 22, was the 79th overall selection in the draft and was the 15th wide receiver drafted. The 6-2, 208-pounder became the first Central Florida player drafted by the Jaguars. The Orlando native set a school record with 90 receptions as a senior and ranked fourth in the nation. He was a two-time All-Conference USA selection after starting 23 of 46 career games and missed the final two games as a junior with a knee injury. He recorded 184 career receptions for 2,561 yards (13.9 avg.) and 17 touchdowns.

The drafted players not yet signed are first round pick Reggie Nelson, second round pick Justin Durant and fifth round pick Derek Landri. The Jaguars will return to the practice fields when training camp begins on Saturday, July 28.
