JAGUARS SIGN SCOTT VON DER AHE

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent linebacker Scott

Von der Ahe, a second-year veteran who spent the 1998 training

camp with the Indianapolis Colts. The addition of Von der Ahe

brings the Jaguars' roster to 87 players.

Von der Ahe, 23, was a sixth-round draft choice of the Colts in

  1. He played in nine games with two starts during the 1997

season, recording 22 tackles, one pass defensed and four special

teams tackles. Von der Ahe played in the first three preseason

games in 1998, before being waived on August 24 in the cut to 60.

Von der Ahe, 5-11, 242, was a two-year starter at Arizona State,

where he posted career totals of 198 tackles, three sacks, two

interceptions and three forced fumbles. During his senior season, he

was also a semifinalist for the Dick Butkus Award, given to college

football's best linebacker.
