The Jacksonville Jaguars signed second-year running back Keith Toston and waived rookie linebacker Brandon Marshall, the club announced today.
Toston, 6-0, 214, saw action for the Jaguars last Sunday at Green Bay at running back and on special teams. He returned two kickoffs for 49 yards against the Packers. He spent the 2012 preseason with the Jaguars before being waived on final cuts and re-signing on Oct. 23. He rushed for 171 yards on 22 carries in the preseason including a 42-yard touchdown run at New Orleans. Toston spent the 2010 season with the St. Louis Rams after earning a roster spot as an undrafted rookie. He played in all 16 games and rushed for 54 yards on 19 carries and added two receptions for 29 yards. He was with the Rams for the 2011 preseason before being waived on final cuts.
The Angleton, Texas native was a four-year letterman at Oklahoma State where he finished with 2,757 career rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. Toston was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a senior, ranking second in the conference with 1,218 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. He attended Angleton High School where he was a finalist for the Old Spice National High School Player of the Year award as a senior.
Toston will wear jersey number 35.
