Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee has signed a long-term contract with the team. Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed. Scobee was a restricted fee agent.
Scobee, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 draft, is entering his fourth season with the Jaguars. In three seasons, Scobee is 73 of 93 on field goals for 319 points along with 52 touchbacks.
Scobee connected on 81.2 percent of his field goals in 2006 (26 of 32), including a career-best streak of 15 consecutive field goals that was snapped at Buffalo on Nov. 26. He led the team with a career-high 119 points in 2006 which ranked third in the AFC and fifth in the NFL. He ranked second in the NFL with a career-high 21 touchbacks and his 119 points ranked fifth among NFL kickers. Scobee was 14 of 19 from 40-plus yards in 2006, the most made field goals from that range in the NFL.
He has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week three times in the past three seasons. In 2006, Scobee was selected to the USA Today All-Joe Team, an award for players and coaches who have overachieved and are often overlooked.
