The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed veteran placekicker Richie Cunningham. He takes the roster spot of Tim Seder, who was waived yesterday. Cunningham, 32, played three years for the Dallas Cowboys from 1997 to '99, connecting on 75 of 94 field goal attempts and all 95 extra point attempts for 318 points before being waived after 12 games in 1999. He played in the final three games of the 1999 season for the Carolina Panthers, then played in the first four games for Carolina in 2000, hitting 5 of 7 field goal attempts and nine extra points for 24 points. He has been out of the NFL the last two years. The 5-10, 167-pounder from Southwestern Louisiana was originally an undrafted rookie of the Cowboys in 1994 before being waived in training camp. He signed with Green Bay in 1996 but was released prior to the season. Cunningham will wear jersey No. 7.
