Jaguars Place Stroud On IR; Sign Orr

The Jacksonville Jaguars today place three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud on injured reserve and signed fifth-year veteran linebacker Shantee Orr to a contract. Orr was released by the Houston Texans on Nov. 28, 2007.

Stroud suffered an ankle injury in the Jaguars' win on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The seventh year veteran had started nine games this season and recorded 35 tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery. The Jaguars' first-round draft pick from 2001 has started 84 of his 100 career games with 457 tackles, 22 sacks and seven forced fumbles.

Orr, 26, spent the last five seasons with the Texans after being claimed off waivers from Green Bay on May 2, 2003. The 6-1, 246-pound linebacker started two of his five games played with Houston at defensive end and recorded three tackles. He has started 25 of his 48 career games with 85 tackles (65 solo) and 10.5 sacks. The Detroit native was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent of the Green Bay Packers in 2003 out of Michigan. He will wear jersey No. 53.
