Jaguars Place Jones on IR; Re-sign Cox

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed first-year defensive back Kennard Cox to the active roster from the practice squad and placed veteran fullback Greg Jones on injured reserve.

Cox, 6-0, 197, had been waived last Friday and he was re-signed to the practice squad on Tuesday of this week. He has spent ten weeks on the club's practice squad and has seen action in three games. Cox was moved to the active roster on September 15 and saw action on special teams in week three and four against Houston and Tennessee and on December 6 against the Texans. He was originally a seventh-round pick of Buffalo in 2008 and was signed by the Jaguars off Green Bay's practice squad last December. He played in the final two games of the 2008 season for the Jaguars on special teams.

Jones started seven of the first 13 games before injuring his ankle last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Jones had four carries for 23 yards along with five receptions for 14 yards and added three special teams tackles. He has played in 71 games with 41 starts since being selected in the second round of the 2005 draft.
