The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed second-year offensive lineman Andrew Crummey and third-year defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey, the club announced today.
Crummey, 6-5, 301, has the ability to play center and guard and has spent time with the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans. He was signed by the Bengals off the Redskins practice squad as a rookie in 2008 and played in six games. He spent the majority of the 2009 season on the Texans practice squad.
A native of Van Wert, Ohio, Crummey was a four-year letterman at Maryland. He earned second-team All-America honors as a senior. He lettered in football, wrestling and track at Van Wert High School.
Mincey, 6-3, 270, spent parts of the last three seasons with the Jaguars but was slowed by injuries. He was a sixth-round pick by New England in 2006 and spent time on San Francisco's practice squad as a rookie. The Jaguars signed him off the 49ers practice squad on December 14, 2006. He played in six games with the Jaguars in 2007 and two postseason games, finishing with 12 tackles, one sack and six quarterback pressures.
Mincey started the 2008 season on the PUP list for the first 11 games but appeared in three of the last four games. He had three tackles and recorded a sack of Joe Flacco in the season-finale. He spent most of the 2009 preseason with the Jaguars before being waived on August 26.
A native of Statesboro, Ga., Mincey played two seasons at Florida. He earned second-team All-SEC honors as a senior, finishing with 62 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. He earned his bachelor's degree at Florida while with the Jaguars and was honored with the NFL's Continuing Education Recognition Award by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletes.
