HOUSTON, Texas – Leonard Fournette's season earlier than anticipated.
Fournette, the Jaguars' running back who missed seven of the team's first 15 games this season, was deactivated for the regular-season finale against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium Sunday. Fournette missed the team's final two practices of the season Thursday and Friday with foot/ankle issues.
Fournette, the No. 4 overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, rushed for 439 yards and five touchdowns in nine games this season. He rushed for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie.
Fournette was among seven inactive Jaguars players Sunday, with the team also deactivating the following six players an hour and a half before kickoff:
Quarterback Tanner Lee, wide receiver Rashad Greene Sr., cornerback A.J. Bouye, nose tackle Eli Ankou, running back Dimitri Flowers and cornerback Breon Borders.
The team signed Lee and Flowers from the practice squad Friday. Bouye sustained a toe injury against the Miami Dolphins last week.
